---About the documentary---
On Saturday March 1st, while world leaders met behind closed doors, 6 young Americans and 7 young Iraqis stepped forward to participate in a historic dialogue. At Downtown Community Television Center (DCTV) in a loft in lower Manhattan and at the Orfali Art Gallery in Baghdad these youths were able to transcend time zones and national borders to speak freely as peers with the help of satellite technology.

“...there’s Jon Alpert, the independent TV-documentary filmmaker, formerly of PBS, formerly of the Today show, with twelve Emmys, who was in Iraq during the Gulf War, and who, in the weeks before the start of the second Iraq war, was again in Baghdad, where he managed to do what the networks say they couldn’t do: get uncensored, unmonitored footage inside Iraqi homes.” New York Magazine

---About The Bridge---
The Bridge is a socio-political media event designed to explore socially pertinent issues from a variety of cultural, racial and generational perspectives. While introducing thought-provoking topics, we create an enjoyable and educative environment. The artist-run chashama Arts Center @ Times Square enables it to have an eclectic “Brooklyn loft party” vibe in the heart of Times Square New York City.

Our mission is to assist respected journalists, researchers, activists / artivists, and concerned persons in presenting research, information and observations. Our vision is to function as a meeting house for multi-generational and multi-cultural grassroots social and political interaction.

During the 2001 / 2002 winter season we were proud to have presented such notable panelists as:
- The Bridge 2001 Co-Producer-Ryme Kathuda (WPFW-radio Washington)
- The Bridge 2001 Co-Producer-Errol Maitlin (WBAI-radio NYC)
- Harry Allen (Public Enemy Media Assassin, journalist)
- DJ Synapse (Artivist, producer)
- Amy Goodman (Democracy Now-Pacifica Radio Network)
- ROBO (Long distance learning technology designer)
- Lorraine Montenegro (United Bronx Parents, Inc.)
- Missy Galore (Visual Installation Artist, Artivist)
- Elombé Brath (Patrice Lumumba Coalition)
- Bernard White (WBAI-radio NYC)
