Proposed design for our African-American Civil War Memorial

We are creating a memorial space of sanctuary dedicated to the lives that have been lost due to the war the Black America has waged against itself inside the US, 1960 to present.

They will be housed in NYC community gardens / greenspaces. The first will be placed at 931 Bedford Ave. Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, NYC
Launch date: Juneteenth (June 19 th) 2004

We see this as another living continuation of James Davis' "Love Yourself" Stop the Violence campaign, which is based in "the People's Republic" of Brooklyn. We are also presenting this in complete and ongoing support of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights' "Books not Bombs" campaign being launched in California, April 28th 2004.
We will be dedicating it to Timothy Stansbury Jr.

It will feature a multitudinous amount of information about the evolution of the Bed-Stuy region, the impact people like Robert Moses had on its formation, community merchant information, community activities calendar, and more via this page.

History is our best teacher.
