The Blurb - Abstinence News

[update mark: 10/20/2015]
There's a myriad of things going on in the world of Abstinence...

We are 30 YEARS OLD and to celebrate, we are doing a performance entitled "Whistleblower TV." We hope that you caught us performing it in Boston, Friday, Oct 2nd at the Voidstar 25th Anniversary Industrial Fest. The entire 3-day event was incredible from beginning to end.

John Bechdel, our synth and trigger guy, is currently on tour with Ministry as a long-time member and collaborator.
Abstinence has now re-released Delusions of Architecture for digital download via Bandcamp.
To celebrate the 23rd anniversary of Abstinence performing "Multiple Cross Wounds" at the legendary Palladium in New York City, we have released 4 videos ["If you Aren't Angry - You Aren't Paying Attention," "Pragmatic Approaches," "Global Oligarchy Rising," and "The Calling"] from our 2013 performance at the Highline Ballroom, NYC. That performance was special to us because we played there with Christian Death.

Abstinence had our New England release party at AS220 in Rhode Island on Oct 5, 2013. We were lucky enough to FINALLY perform with Controlled Bleeding. Our bands have been trying to play together since 1989. The event was even made better by also performing with Neptune, Raab Codec and The Vomit Arsonist.
We played with Christian Death at the Highline Ballroom, New York City
on Sept. 22, 2013. It was a really fun show and our first in NYC since performing at the Limelight, NYC [r.i.p.] in 1995. Our best review came from Maitri from Christian Death - "Fucking Awesome. What more could I say."

We performed on July 13th, 2013 @ the Brighton Bar, Long Branch, NJ
Also featured: Cenotype, Daughter Vision, ERS, and Sonic Warriors United [Denard Henry & Jana Clemens].

Abstinence did our first full-scale performance in 17 years at the Brighton Bar in Long Branch, NJ. That was also where we played our second show in 1986.
The legendary ambient composer, programmer [and Hell's Mr. Miyagi] Kim Cascone recorded an interview for the DoA release. The interview with be accessed via the official Abstinence Dropbox--to be launched in Sept 2013
Delusions of Architecture is on sale now!

We thank you for your continued support and thank those who pre-ordered.

Check out the new promotional video on the Abstinence homepage. It has some leaked files from the new release. We can neither confirm nor deny the accuracy of the reports. ;)
After nearly 7 years, we have embedded the Twilight Zone episode, "The Obsolete Man," which is the foundation of our "Path of Maximum Resistance" project.
Tonikom's Rachel Maloney created the photo collage for our artwork and video. We are so thankful for her participation with DoA.
Deftly D's main project Nau-Zee-auN released its debut effort "First Blast," which was the result of years of performance. In addition, they've been developing an interesting 3-D video multimedia performance...
John's primary project False Icons has a debut release "God Complex" that came out 2008. False Icons are working on a new release...stay tuned.
John [who's also a member of Ministry] played on the final Ministry tour and is on the final release...Since the original posting of this, Ministry have reformed and toured--JB was back in the Ministry squad for that.
Darryl is returning to his hardcore punk roots [25+ years after Public Disturbance] with his new side project Digital Disturbance--stay tuned.
We will eternally celebrate the life and music of Paul Raven [Killing Joke/Ministry/Murder Inc/Prong]. We were and are honored that he played on our Theorem CD in 1995. Through the years, he became a very wonderful friend and comrade. He will be missed...
