s6k prompted the collaboration of Earth Day New York & chashama in producing a 14-day exhibition entitled, "Everyday is Earthday Back-to-School Exhibition." We had 9 wonderfully educative and diverse events, celebrating the Earth and how we can have a more healthy relationship with our home planet. It was an incredible success and we look forward to future efforts. We hope for this to be an annual event.

s6k News was recently green-lighted for an interview with Daniel Elsberg. We are honored for the opportunity to have a discussion with the person who was directly responsible for the legendary release of the Pentagon Papers. Their release resulted in turning the tide of public opinion for the Vietnam  War and was a primary causal element to force the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

New computer means new videos. The s6k Media Video Channel has a number of presentations that are itching to get out. We can now start scratching.

s6k launched a petition to preserve the legendary archive of Like It Is. This archive is a vital media treasure that should be shared as an educational historic reference source of the Black-American experience. click here and join the petition

"Drunk Cops in Jersey City" an s6k:Investigates web exclusive, features police misconduct in Jersey City, NJ. This video was given to us anonymously in the hope that we would utilize our news service to get it to the right people. Now the story has blown up and is getting larger by the day. This is one more event that proves the power of independent media and the Internet. Watch the video and then join the conversation.

We are happily celebrating our broadcast television premier with coverage of our s6k:Investigates "Drunk Cops" investigation. The CW 11 News, New York City, ran our investigation as their feature story, which ran in their 10pm news promotional spots all day long!
If you missed it, see it here now!

s6k:Investigates is hoping that the increased coverage results in a change in the civil laws of New Jersey, which would stop any incident like this from being kept "confidential" ever again.

s6k:Investigates has embarked on a series of conversations with people inside the New York City educational system to discuss why things are going so wrong while we're being told everything is getting better. Adelaide Sanford, retired Vice Chancellor of the New York State Regents, has agreed to speak to us. We look forward to sitting down with this educational legend. Stay tuned

We are currently enhancing our investigation on racism in a New Jersey hospital. This ongoing issue has done nothing but get worse. More demotions, more racial/ethnic slurs and more unanswered phone calls/emails from every New Jersey branch of the N.A.A.C.P.

s6k Arts presents Vicky Virgin's, "Fleur de Sel." Ms. de Sel reveals herself as a rather odd creature with an unusual craving for salt. She's coming in s6k's new series. The trailer for this new series is awaiting your eyes...and we promise she won't throw salt at you. On the other hand, we can't say we're sure of her behavior, as you will see.

In Fall 2008, s6k began consulting with a very interesting project with Meta Brunzuma @ the Pratt Institute. The focus of this workshop is Social Infrastructure | Housing for the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. Their “net-zero carbon district” is evaluating Central Brooklyn housing, infrastructure and educational/public institutions in and around the Pratt/Bedford-Stuyvesant vicinity from a carbon/energy and sustainable urban design point of view. This will expand into the future into a executable project that will shape parts of Brooklyn and possibly cities everywhere. Read an article about the project

s6k Media has filmed many productions for the s6k Video channel. They include exclusive interviews with Martin Atkins (legendary drummer; Public Image Ltd, Killing Joke, Pigface, Murder Inc., Invisible Records), TC Islam (originator of the "hip-step" music genre, son of Afrika Bambatta - the Godfather of hip-hop), and Harry Allen ("Non-Fiction," journalist, "Media Assassin" for Public Enemy). Our most recent production is a movement performance with artist/dancer Michelle Mantione. This uncommon feature is a twist on movement, performance and sound that would make Elizabeth Streb smile.

s6k had the great pride of sitting down with A. Peter Bailey, information minister for the Oragnization of Arfo-American Unity, founded by Malcolm X. Prof. Bailey was a student of Malcolm for the last 18 months of Malcolm's life.

Col. Ann Wright, one of the highest ranking people within the US State Dept. that resigned in protest prior to the launching of the war in Iraq, talked to s6k:Investigates about her life and motivations. Her legendary action accentuates the fact that "average" people are capable of extraordinary things. We are hoping to post our exclusive interview with her soon. s6k Video Channel.

s6k Arts commemorates the passing of Paul Raven [Killing Joke, Ministry, Fear Factory, Prong] with a conversation between Darryl Hell and Paul's long-time friend, John Bechdel.
