Back to reality after a few weeks of insanity (literal at times!)
I know, I know, I’ve been MIA for a few weeks now. After dog sitting for 2 weeks, a visit from my sister, and my son coming home from his summer holiday, I’m finally getting back into a routine. The summer heat has drawn me several evenings a week to an ice cream parlor looking for a cool escape. The dog sitting in a stranger’s home had drawn me to a lot of snacking and eating quick meals for “one” instead of cooking for myself. My sister’s visit brought upon a trip to the diner for a delicious, yet high calorie breakfast, AND the boardwalk for JerseyShore goodies.Needless to say, I’m not up to par on my healthy eating habits!I did however enjoy lovely bike rides along the ocean while dog sitting, so I kept up my exercise while I was there!
Onto other things:
My cousin’s wife (hi Katie) sent me an article from www.msn.comI LOVE these articles with calorie and fat content of food. Here is the link for the article if you’d like to read it in its entirety.
What I don’t understand, and haven’t researched extensively is how the “Triple Whopper with Cheese” has more calories and fat than the new “BK Quad” that they’re advertising.
Another health issue on my mind that I’m going to touch on in the future: depression/age/gender/suicide correlation. The reason I was dog sitting is because a friend of a friend attempted suicide and was hospitalized. It got me thinking while staying at her house about the correlation between these things. It was quite lonely there all by myself, and I could see how the aging population living alone can get depressed. If you have anything you’d like me to write about, let me know!
Oh!!!Another thing! With the heat, PLEASE be very careful; drink a lot of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.Wear sun block even if you don’t “burn” and stay indoors if possible during the hot daytime hours!
