I'm listening to the L.A. Pride parade. Can't go this year, I have a work deadline I have to meet for tomorrow. But that's cool, I've been going since my brother took me when I was a kid. Some of my most touching and inspiring experiences happened at Pride. Like the year the parade included a Palestinian guy carrying an Israeli flag holding hands with an Israeli carrying a Palestinian flag.
The music and the sounds of the crowd rise and fall on the breeze up here in the canyon. It makes me happy to know that thousands and thousands of people, who if they were in other places in the world would be facing at best discrimination and at worst torture and death just for being themselves, are filled with joy and unity today. Pride is a celebration of individuality. You don't have to be gay to appreciate the liberation it represents for all human beings.
