The distribution of literature in support of Lt.
Watada has been re-scheduled from this week to next week. We will be at
Washington Square Park on Friday October 19 from 11AM - 2PM, and Saturday
October 20 from 12-2PM. The Friday event will also serve as
Chapter 34's participation in the monthly third-Friday Iraq Moratorium
and Molly Ivins events.
The retrial of Lt. Ehren Watada, the first officer
to refuse re-deployment to Iraq, has been postponed, enjoining the Army
from retrial until at least Oct. 26 or until further order from the US
District Court in Tacoma. Judge Settle, a Bush appointee, will decide whether
the second trial should proceed, or be quashed as a violation of Lt Watada's
constitutional rights that protect against double jeopardy.
