The two videos below are part
of our "LESSON 1" classroom experience. They help explain the multi-generational
successes and failures of the era called the Civil Rights Movement
[1950's to 1970's], which is often referred to as an ultimate example of
the structural flexibility and growth capability of the United States. This is our starting point to discuss the many cultural experiences that comprise the "American" story.

"The Stride Forward" discusses the core current & historical issues of under-served communities. Though this focuses on communities of color, its thrust is applicable to most under-served or under-resourced communities.
The Stride Forward
"A Close Look in the Mirror"
supplies a structural analysis of the Civil Rights Era from people who
were at the forefront of the movement. Even though the analysis in "A
Close Look in the Mirror" was recorded throughout the 1970's for "Like It Is" by legendary journalist Gil Noble, their
assessments have a strong connection to many of the present
circumstances of a number of cultures living in the United States.

video series is to show that there is quality, culturally rich,
educational programming on television, but it needs to be sought
out...like a discount on an X-Box or a pair of kicks. :)
