I know- I have been M.I.A., there has been an awful lot going on and I can't seem to get it together.
Which means, my eating habits haven't been great, so I feel like a hypocrite telling you all to eat well, and take care of yourselves while I binge on Halloween candy, Thanksgiving turkey, and soon to be X-mas cookies! I managed to gain a pound with all of these events! I know, it's only a pound, BUT, that one pound will be five if I'm not TOO careful.
The other thing is I started a part time job at the request of a friend who manages a high end retail store. He asked if I wanted some extra cash for the holidays, and I couldn't say no. So my weekends have been that, and then my weekdays are spent recuperating from standing all day on concrete. I don't know if it's the lupus, the concrete floors or a combo of both, but I am in agony! I'm gladly accepting spa gift certificates!!! :-D
There has been quite a lot of programming lately about eating habits, proper eating, obesity, anorexia and everything in between. The Today show ran a series on "obesity in America". There was also a documentary run on HBO ("Thin") that I certainly recommend on eating disorders. The movie follows several women as they seek recovery at a facility for eating disorders. What surprised me the most, however, was the staff. Almost all of the staff were overweight and/or obese. I kept questioning the effectiveness this place is having on girls dying to be thin. How can a 200+ lb woman dispense advice on eating properly? All in all, it was a fascinating glimpse into the eating disorder world.
This coming Sunday, "Intervention" on A&E will do an intervention for a girl who is bulimic. The previews seem extremely intense. I love this show, if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. I'll admit, the premise does sound tacky--- let's interview a drug addict/alcoholic then surprise him with rehab--- but it does come off as a caring show, well, at least the addicts families care enough to get them help.
Well, I'm going to wrap it up. I just wanted to touch base with you all and let you all know I haven't fallen off the edge of the Earth, I'm just kinda busy. I will try and keep you updated with more info regularly after the New Year.
Hope everyone has a lovely end of the year holiday celebration! Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!
