White Republicans attempt to control
Georgia's majority Black 4th District...Again

By Ron Walker July 8, 2004

In the 2002 primary election for Georgia's 4th Congressional District, 48,000 republicans crossed-over to vote in the democratic primary for the sole purpose of defeating Cynthia McKinney, a popular five-term black Congresswoman. McKinney, who appears in Michael Moore's documentary film "Fahrenheit 9/11" was the first voice in the US Congress to question the Bush administration on its knowledge of the events of 9/11. "What did you know and when did you know it", is the question asked by McKinney over two years ago. Time has proven McKinney's question to be valid and right on point.

Cynthia McKinney is also a strong advocate for the rights of African-Americans and its youth, the environment, the rights of American workers, and she stands against corporate control of government and globalization. Her stance on these issues pits her directly against the Republican Party, which has a miserable record on them all. Her call for a fair and balanced solution in the Middle East pits her directly against AIPAC, the Zionist political lobby. Thus, a coalition of hate was formed to control a majority black district with money and political trickery. It worked for them in 2002 and they thought that they had rid themselves of a voice and advocate for the people.

What they did not realize was that Cynthia McKinney is a warrior, and her defeat in 2002 was just a battle. The war for African-Americans’ control of their own political destiny is still on. Exhibiting the same courage and will that inspired her to speak truth to power, McKinney is running for her seat at the table of power once again. And once again, the coalition of hate is determined to disenfranchise black citizens of the 4th district with money and political trickery.

An article in the July 7 issue of the Atlanta Journal Constitution titled "GOP
crossover vote may affect outcome,” speaks of Republican money going to challengers of McKinney, particularly State Senator Liane Levetan. The article cites Levetans support among Republicans, even though there is a Republican in the race.

The chairman of the DeKalb County Republican Party, Mike Kovacich, speaks glowingly of Republican support for Levetan. "Liane is a known commodity and a lot of Republicans have worked with her in the past", said Kovacich. Levetan seems proud of her republican backing. "I've gotten a lot of Republican money", she said recently. "My synagogue has a lot of republicans".

The nature and chicanery of the coalition of hate has not changed. Once again Republicans and AIPAC will attempt to install a puppet government in the 4tth district. Once again they will attempt to silence any voice that does not dance to the music they play.

The only real question that need be answered is will once again blacks in the 4th district allow those who have no interest in the quality of their lives, or the future of their children, to dictate who will represent them in Congress.

With the out of control costs of the war on Iraq which has cost the American taxpayer over 200 billion dollars to date, rising interest, heath care, and energy rates, continued loss of American jobs going oversees, and a looming military draft which will snatch young men and women into a never-ending war, can blacks afford to sit back and allow outsiders to misrepresent them?

With the problems of pollution, landfills, lack of recreational facilities, and
the problems of congestion and transportation which adversely affect the health and quality of life of the citizens of the 4th district, especially its
children, can black voters afford to sit back and allow corporate whores and racists to misrepresent them?

On July 20, the answer to the critical question of who controls black political destiny in Georgia's 4th district will be answered. The upcoming primary election in the 4th district will be watched all over the world. AIPAC will be paying particular attention to that race and the voters of the 4th district should send them and the coalition of hate a message.
